HAREN - Sappemeerder Bert Pot heeft sinds dinsdag de eerste i-Limb handprothese van Nederland. De prothese, ontwikkeld door het Engelse bedrijf Touch Bionics, werd aangemeten bij orthopedisch centrum OIM in Haren. De i-Limb is een ultra moderne kunsthand met vijf beweegbare vingers die bijna hetzelfde kan als een echte hand. De vingers en duim worden aangedreven door servomotortjes, die gekoppeld zijn aan kleine elektroden in de onderarm. Vanuit de spieren zetten deze elektroden hersensignalen om naar bewegingen van de hand. In vergelijking met zijn oude prothese is de i-Limb volgens Bert Pot een grote vooruitgang.
